Coming to A Stop: Tips For New Riders
This tip is specifically for inseam-challenged riders but is valuable to anyone getting accustomed to two wheels.
When approaching a stop (traffic light, stop sign, stop-and-go traffic on the freeway), keep your eyes on the
roof-line of the vehicle in front of you.
First, this keeps your eyes up. Second, you have a visual clue as to the steepness and direction of the camber of the road without having to look down. Of course, you have to use SEE* and peripheral vision to spot potholes and debris before the stop, but you know which side of the bike is the more important.
This lesson brought to you by the school of hard knocks, otherwise known as stop-and-tip-overs.
